THE MANTRAS w/ Bubonik Funk + Stamper

Building a reputation as go-for-broke live act, The Mantras have been playing to consistently larger and larger crowds all over the Eastcoast and Midwest. Steadily building a following both regionally and nationally with music that is a high-energy collaborative of funk-rock, middle-eastern, electronica, and metal; The Mantras’ music is a fusion that will shake your knees and rattle your toes. Their rising profile has resulted in an incredible year so far, seeing The Mantras and their members in numerous festival performances and sharing stages in double-bills and direct support for the likes of Umphrey’s McGee, Eoto, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Papadosio, Zoogma, The Werks, and many more.

Bubonik Funk is an original Soul/Rock band from Charlotte, North Carolina that specializes in energetic funky performance and groove musicality. Taking inspiration from groups as varied as Funkadelic, D’angelo, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin and the Talking Heads, this group has pushed their blend of funk music for nearly seven years with an unchanged lineup of Stefan Kallander (Guitar, vocals), Dylan Ellett (Vocals, keys), Nick Mcowen (Bass, synth) and Daniel Allison (Drums, vocals).

Bubonik Funk has toured the East coast, playing with such dynamic acts as Soulive, Zach Deputy, Cyril Neville, Jonny Lang and Yo Mamma’s Big Fat Booty Band. They have recorded and self-produced three albums; their latest entitled “Zabooki”.

As of 2012, the band’s range extends from Atlanta, Georgia to Boston, Massachusetts. They have played venues such as the legendary Bitter End in Greenwich Village, the Drumstrong Festival and the Fillmore Charlotte. The band recently reunited full time for the first time in four years, and continues to build quickly across the East coast, gathering accolades from college publications, bloggers and newspapers alike.

"A day at a STAMPER show is envisioned as one where you settle into a cozy little niche of a venue and float peacefully away into a conglomerate of their spins and base, a definite artist for a party; a traveling escapism circus of funk, flirty fun and skill." STAMPER (a.k.a. Andrew Stamper) is a product of the diverse and ever-changing genre of experimental/ electronica music. Growing up in Charlotte, NC, STAMPER started "tuning" his craft at a very young age with abstract drum beats and percussive elements learned from classical percussion training. In the early 2000's STAMPER experimented with mixing improvisational live insturments (Guitar, Synths, Drum Machines) with electronic beats and samples, which led to the creations of today, and a sound that will rattle your emotions to the core. The thought invoking, socially aware, and general harmonious vibe created by the crowds are what make STAMPER's music an experience manifested and driven by live performance. "Yes, his own category with the music enhanced with deftly played guitar rhythms, it sounds even to the most trained ear that there is no separation to these two things."
